1 September 2010
- School’s back, days are shortening, shadows are longer, Summer is definitely over!
- It’s always difficult to adjust from Summer to Autumn, from holiday freedom to the old routines…
- From time out of doors to time inside the house again, from time in a simple holiday home back to the familiar four walls of…home.
- That home may well feel enclosed and full of clutter…as though the very walls are closing in!
- For me, returning in August from a holiday in France, was like returning to Autumn, with a garden full of leaves and a cluttered house of lengthening shadows.
- Time to let more light in…and so to shift the furniture, clear the wardrobes, deep-cleanse the childrens’ rooms and even tackle those annoying scratches on the car.
- Time, I realised, to re-gain the simplicity of holiday living with uncluttered living spaces, a wardrobe of only essential clothes and a car that doesn’t feel like a travelling picnic basket.
- So thank you to Brigitte and Michel in in L’Aigueverte – www.aigueverte.fr – for a wonderful holiday, and to Gerry Maguire – www.gerrymaguire.com – for rescuing the car.
- For you in your own home, you’ll find lots of advice here on the site on how to maximise light in your home, how to organise storage and to best to use your existing space.
- Let’s keep the holiday spirit alive!
